A surprise engagement? Chinese badminton player gets a diamond after winning gold

China’s badminton mixed doubles pair, Huang Ya Qiong and Zheng Si Wei, won the gold medal at the Paris Games. After the ceremony, Huang’s boyfriend, also a Chinese badminton player at the Games, surprised her with a proposal. She happily accepted. Huang and Zheng secured the gold by defeating South Korea’s Kim Won Ho and Jeong Na Eun in straight sets. Japan’s Watanabe Yuta and Higashino Arisa won the bronze medal in the mixed doubles. Huang’s fiancé won a silver medal in the men’s doubles competition at the Tokyo Olympics.
